Identification
|
Sulfate ?Solutions of
sulfates yield with barium chloride TS a white precipitate, which is
insoluble in hydrochloric acid and in nitric acid. With lead acetate TS,
sulfates yield a white precipitate, which is soluble in ammonium acetate
solution. Hydrochloric acid produces no precipitate when added to solutions
of sulfates(distinction from
thiosulfates).
Cobalt ?Its solutions when saturated with potassium chloride and treated with
potassium nitrite and acetic acid , yield a yellow precipitate
