Description
|
White,
crystalline, odourless, tasteless granules or powder. Its solutions are
neutral to litmus.

Solubility

Sparingly
(and slowly) soluble in water; freely soluble in boiling water; insoluble in
alcohol.

Identification
|
A
solution (1 in 50) responds to the test for calcium.
To
a solution of the calcium salt add 2 drops of methyl red TS, and neutralize
with 6N ammonium hydroxide. Add 3 N hydrochloric acid, dropwise, until the
solution is acid to the indicator. Upon the addition of ammonium oxalate TS,
a white precipitate is formed. This precipitate is insoluble in 6N acetic
acid but dissolves in hydrochloric acid

approx. 800mg and dissolve in 150ml of water containing 2mL of 3N HCl.?While stirring add 30mL of 0.05M EDTA VS
from a 50mL buret, then add 15mL of 1N NaOH and 300 mg of hydroxy naphthol
blue indicator, continue titration to a blue endpoint.?Each mL of 0.05M EDTA is equivalent to
21.52mg.
